It is a habit of many golfers to either slice or hook their
golf balls after the balls come off of the clubs. It’s not
like they do it on purpose, but it happens often anyway. Not only
does doing something like this ruin your score for the round,
but it can also cost a pretty penny, especially if you are using
high-end golf balls.
There are actually a number of things that you can do that may
help you get a shot to go straight down the fairway instead of
head straight toward the bunker. Lost golf balls can be a thing
of the past!
One of the simplest things you can do is figure out how much
of a slice or a hook you have when you hit the ball and then turn
your body accordingly. For example, if you know all your shots
tend to slice toward the right after they leave your club, try
turning your body more to the left.
Although it may look like you are going to hit the ball onto
a different fairway, it is more than likely that soon after the
ball leaves your club that it will slice and hopefully land in
the middle of the fairway of the hole on which you are playing.
Sure, you might get a few strange looks from other golfers, but
if you are landing on the fairway, isn’t that all that really
matters?
This is really only a temporary fix to the problem. If you want
to truly be able to improve your shot, practice makes perfect.
But all the practice in the world does not matter if you are not
practicing the right form.
You can help yourself by hiring a golf instructor to meet you
at the driving range and help you work on your shot. Paying a
professional to give you the right kind of advice will be very
beneficial to improving your shot.
If your golf balls are not going where you want them to, reposition
your body when teeing off. But if you want to do things the right
way, hire a private instructor for lessons.
