While it is very possible to walk into your favorite pro shop and find the best gear suitable to your skill level, there are other options as well.

• The pro shop - There is nothing wrong with going to the pro shop and looking to see what kinds of gear and accessories they have there. Actually, the pro shop is a great place to go because these shops tend to have more specialized items than other stores might have. But, the important thing to remember with these shops is the fact that they do not have a monopoly on the golf gear market.
• A large sporting goods store - You will be able to find an even better selection on available gear at better prices if you decide to shop at the sporting goods store instead of at the pro shop. The one thing they may not be able to tell you at the sporting goods store that they could tell you at the pro shop is how the gear will relate to a specific course. Whereas pro shop workers know about the wind and sun conditions in different areas of a course, sporting goods store workers can only speak in generalities.
• Online - Shopping for gear online is a great option because you can do a lot of looking in just a matter of minutes. A good site to check out is athleticgear.net. On the other hand, traveling to and walking around different stores and shops, takes hours to view the same amount of items. Online shopping also is nice at times because it allows you to find the best prices, regardless of whether the gear being sold is in your hometown or on a different continent.
